New Beginnings

Let me tell you a little bit about the journey I have been on over the past 12 months.

It was a beautiful Saturday in April 2013 when my best friend married her romeo.  I was very excited to be her Maid of Honour and be there to support and help celebrate with her on her special day.  As a wedding photographer myself, I was looking forward to meeting the photographer that my friend had chosen to capture the moments of their special day.  She had told me so many great things about them and how cool their studio was.  I had no idea that from this day on, Simon, from Bride2Be Photography, would become a great mentor and even better friend.

Meeting Simon has given me the opportunity to learn more than I ever thought possible and help me find where I want to be as a professional photographer.  I was fortunate enough to visit the Bride 2 Be studio, where I got to see hands on how he captures the creative imagery he is so well known for.   Since shooting weddings with Simon over the last year or so, I have been able to incorporate his creative imagery techniques into my relaxed and candid approach.

I know I wouldn't be where I am today if I had never met Simon and I also wouldn't have been given the opportunity to shoot my first international wedding in June next year!!!

I feel my future as a professional photographer will be so exciting as I'm welcomed to the Bride 2 Be family. I also look extremely forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to work together in the future.

Matt + Jacinta

It is always a privilege photographing a friends wedding.  To be there right from the start when all the excitement, nerves and emotions are running wild.

Jacinta and I met when she was a bridesmaid in one of the very first weddings I photographed.  It is such a nice experience to work with previous brides and bridesmaids, and I look forward to photography one of Jacinta's bridesmaids later this year.

Over the years I have learnt that helping the groom and his groomsmen fold their pocket square and get the buttoneir in the perfect spot are a few handy tricks that come in handy on a wedding day.  As well as understanding the importance to the bride of including fur babies in photos as they will be treasured images for years to come.

Matt and Jacinta's wedding day was awesomely fun, especially with their relaxed and easy going bridal party.  They all worked super well when because of heavy rain (in late November!), we had less than 30 minutes to complete all formal photos.  It isn't easy working with such a small time frame but in the end we produced some great shots that I know Matt and Jacinta love.

Funniest memory of their wedding day would have to be one of the groomsmen being nicknamed 'Bobby'.  Long story but a special thanks to Justin Eadie for being so down to earth!

I felt very fortunate to be a part of Matt and Jacinta's wedding day, not only as friends but also to be the person to capture those special moments.

business + babies + beyond

Over the past 12 months I have poured my heart and soul into three things.  My marriage, our first born son, and my business.
When you are married with no children, it can be hard to imagine loving another human being as much, if not more than you do your partner.  This was me.  I couldn't imagine or understand how I would come to give my heart to the baby I was soon going to meet.  Here we are, ten months after the arrival of our son Blair, and I cannot remember or imagine never loving him.  It is like I have always loved him, as he has always loved me.  A bond never to be broken.
As I sit here reflecting over the year that has just been, I come to realise these past 12 months have been 12 of the most exhausting yet rewarding months of my life.  2013 saw the birth of our first son, Blair, and my love for photography step up to something I am now proud of.
When I began my photography journey almost 2.5 years ago, it was the excitement of freezing that moment in time to treasure for years to come that made me fall in love with what I did.  Now my focus has grown, I still love capturing those precious moments for my clients to treasure, but now I want to do more.  Now I want to give each and every one of my clients a gift.  A gift that every woman deserves but not every woman has.  This gift is for each woman no matter what age, size, ethnicity, or flaws they believe they have,  to be given the ability to see their own beauty.
This new focus yeas lead me to open Allie South Photography's first studio.  I am lucky to have a wonderful husband and family who are there to support me in this huge adventure.  What better way to kick start 2014 than to help make woman look and feel beautiful.  I cannot wait to share what lies on the journey ahead.
